I am an artist from rural Maine. Where I live is important in what I do. Each of my pieces tries to respond directly to the underlying essence of place that exists in its subject. Working in acrylic paint on canvas, I spread and scrape away paint until I get a particular depth of color. My work is fueled by an anxiety that the touchstones of country life are disappearing. I want my art to be a reminder to pay attention.
